Our Story

Akumu Ink started in 2008 selling t-shirts online from the spare bedroom in their apartment. Our style is heavily inspired by everything coming out of Japan from its cute pop icons to its terrifying horror movies.

The name Akumu is Japanese for Nightmare. We love taking the concept of creating hand drawn images based on our nightmares. As the brand has grown over the last few years our artistic style has evolved into this nightmarish scratch board look. Past designs can be found in our RIP section.

We are an indie brand comprised of two members: Joey the illustrator/designer and printer, and Dora who takes care of customer service and all the business side of things.

We etch every design into existence using a scratchboard technique, and we also silkscreen onto quality American Apparel tshirts,
v-necks, and hoodies upon receiving your order.
